Trafford Police officer injured whilst attending an attempted burglary in Davyhulme

Police are appealing for witnesses after an officer was injured whilst attending an attempted burglary in Davyhulme.

Shortly after 1am on Monday 16 September 2019, police were called to reports of an attempted burglary, involving three men wearing dark clothing, at a property on Canterbury Road.

Officers attended and became suspicious of a black VW Golf on nearby Rochester Road.

As officers got out of their vehicle to speak to the occupants, the VW Golf accelerated towards them and collided with the police vehicle.

One of the officers managed to get back into the police car, however his leg was trapped in the door and subsequently crushed by the VW Golf as it made off. continue reading at

FORMER England cricket captain Michael Vaughan was in the winning team during a pro-am competition at Wilmslow Golf Club.

Vaughan, now an expert summariser and analyst of cricket with the BBC, was part of Sandiway Golf Club professional Gareth Jones’ side supporting what an event that was in aid of Wilmslow Golf Club captain Ben Cartwright’s chosen charity, the BIGGA Development Fund.

Wilmslow Golf Club member Vaughan, along with Jones, Mike Lumb and Nick Boyce-Hunter, posted a -15 score to lead in from Martin Hamer (Davyhulme Park professional) and his team of Tony Welburn, Bob Bardsley and Andrew Hamer on -14 who won a card play-off from Davenport assistant professional Jamie Howarth, Stuart Beere, Rob Davies and Andy Kirkby.
